God's Storehouse  

a mission outreach program of the

Weldon United Methodist Church

     For many years, Weldon United Methodist Church has sponsored God's Storehouse, a Mission outreach that provides food and used clothing to needy families in the Kern River Valley and presently serves thousands of individuals yearly.

     In the late 1980's, the Foursquare Church, in Wofford Heights, was hoping someone would take over the program for two years while the church did some building and remodeling. At the end of two years, however, the Foursquare Church went in a different direction, and God's Storehouse became a permanent part of Weldon United Methodist Church outreach to the Community.

     During the year, God's Storehouse is open on the second, third and fourth Tuesday of each month, providing food and used clothing from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM. God's Storehouse also delivers food to Seniors and disabled shut-ins, on the third Wednesday of each month.

     Vons Super Market graciously provides day old bread that God's Storehouse gives out every Tuesday and shares with other charities in the valley. God's Storehouse is open, to distribute bread only, every Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:45  AM.

     God's Storehouse depends strictly on donations to keep our doors open. Monetary donations can be mailed to the church at P.O. Box 1209, Weldon, CA 93283. Purchased food may be dropped off at the church office by appointment, as the office is not open on a daily basis.

     Food items always needed are canned vegetables, canned soup, canned meat, canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, jam, boxes of hot or cold cereal, dry beans, rice, macaroni & cheese, dry pasta, spaghetti sauce, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and paper products. We try to provide toilet paper and paper towels to our Senior shut-ins as their limited income often times does not allow the luxury of those items. We also collect hotel & motel small soaps, shampoos, lotion etc. to give out to homeless as well as to our senior shut-ins
